Afsha Majid
Artist Statement:
I am a mixed media artist and my work explores the concepts of identity and the comforts of everyday life through paintings, prints, and illustrations primarily. My work will often connect to ideas of pop culture, music, and the exterior world that shapes the identities of our beings.
I draw my inspiration from the artforms that have often been deemed as not “high art;’ from comic books, advertisements, animation, text, and all things “pop.” My work will often reflect elements from these mediums to play with the intersection of identities and how cultures can be shared.
When creating art, I hope to invite viewers to find comfort within my work, whether that is through relatability due to shared interest or to see themselves represented through a visual lens.
