Aura Burditt works full time as an outreach worker, providing support to those struggling with addiction, mental health, homelessness and poverty. She also volunteers many hours a week educating others about human trafficking through presentations at universities, colleges and area agencies.
Her creative side was inherited, she says, as both her mother and grandmother were artists; but Aura didn’t pick up the brush until 8 years ago, and hasn’t looked back. Aura loves to paint Ontario landscapes, and works primarily in acrylics.
She has enjoyed numerous workshops by area artists and continues to explore new techniques through on-line learning. As a child Aura holidayed with family in the Muskoka district and longs to bring some of her love for the Ontario north to life in her work. The appeal of the natural world and simpler enjoyments, uncomplicated by screens and technology, has always been at the heart of her artistic message.
